What Word Duel is
Word Duel (also known as Duel Word Game) is a free online word game that runs in any browser. Daily word puzzles are great, but you play them alone and compare results hours later. In Word Duel you and an opponent get the same hidden word at the same moment and race to it live.
Around that core there are a few ways to play:
- 1v1 duels with spinning reels for theme, word length (4–7 letters) and mode — Classic, Hearts and Open Book;
- Word of the Day and the hard Word of the Week for solo players;
- Party rooms for up to 10 friends with a single link;
- Draw & Guess, a drawing party game for up to 8 players.
Ten word themes
Every duel's word comes from one of ten themes, each with around a hundred hand-picked words and a clue for every one:
Principles
- Free, in the browser, instantly. No download, no sign-up wall. An account is optional and only keeps your progress.
- Fair play. The hidden word never reaches your device before you solve it — every guess is checked on the server — and suspicious play is detected and matched separately.
- No pay-to-win. Coins are earned by playing; the only thing in the shop is hints.
- Respect for your privacy. No advertising trackers. Read the privacy policy.
- Safe for groups. Names and chat are filtered, and drawings and players can be reported in one tap.
